No Excuses: Instructional Equity and Excellence

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Building a strong instructional focus inclusive of bilingual students is crucial in building equity and access. This workshop session will review the work of authors in the field such as Echevarria, along with differentiation strategies and the Hess Cognitive Rigor Matrix (CRM) with an overlay of ELP standards as a way to begin to plan meaningful instruction. Attendees will reflect on questions such as, What reading, writing, speaking, and listening strategies have you seen effectively implemented in your school/district? How is academic language development integrated into your school’s/district’s instructional priorities? What powerful examples of academic language instruction have you seen in your school/district? Participants will be engaged in an activity to begin initial planning for an instructional focus using these guiding documents.
